Glitter’s new neighbor-funded compost pilot

We are thrilled to be testing out a new service: compost! Powered by Glitter’s neighbor-funded model, neighbors on select pilot blocks can opt in to access a shared compost bin.

For $15 per household per month, you can drop off food scraps anytime.

The bin is secured and is replaced with a fresh bin every week by our trusted local partner Bennett Compost.

Simple. Local. Community-powered.

What is the pilot for?

This is a block-level composting pilot.

Instead of each home having separate pickup, neighbors share one secured compost bin installed directly on the block.

Bennett Compost empties it weekly and swaps it out, taking the full bin and leaving a clean, empty bin.
Glitter manages signups and communication.

This is a pilot, which means we’re testing whether this shared model can eventually scale to offer this city-wide to:

  • Low costs for customers

  • Reduce number of vehicle stops per block

  • Increase neighborhood participation

  • Make composting visible and accessible

Design, pricing, and everything else is all subject to change as we get feedback from neighbors like you!
